Responsible Driving Tips
- 1/20If driving in rainy weather
Wet roads increase braking distance. Double the gap from the vehicle ahead to avoid hydroplaning and improve control.
When approaching sharp curves
Brake before the curve, not during it. This keeps the truck stable and prevents skidding or rollovers.
If driving downhill
Shift to a lower gear before descent. This prevents overheating brakes and loss of stopping power.
When carrying heavy loads
Inspect straps and locks during stops. Loose cargo can shift, causing instability and accidents.
If fatigue begins to set in
Stop in a safe place. Turkish law requires 45-minute breaks every 4.5 hours of driving.
When driving in fog
High beams reflect in fog. Use low beams, reduce speed, and keep a safe distance from vehicles ahead.
If overtaking another vehicle
Overtake only where legal, with clear sight. Avoid blind spots and ensure lane space before returning.
When approaching pedestrian areas
Slow to 30 km/h near schools. Pedestrian priority is strictly enforced in Turkey.
If approaching a railroad crossing
Stop if gates are down or lights flash. Cross only when safe and completely clear.
When parking on a slope
Use parking brake, turn wheels toward curb, and use wheel chocks to prevent rolling.
If driving in high winds
Reduce speed and hold the wheel firmly. High winds can destabilize tall or light loads.
When entering tunnels
Use low beams in tunnels. Follow speed limits and avoid lane changes inside.
If driving at night
Check headlights, brake lights, and indicators before departure. Lights improve visibility and safety.
When approaching an intersection
Stop at red lights and yield where required. Trucks need longer stopping distance than cars.
If braking in an emergency
Apply steady pressure on brakes. Avoid sudden jerks to prevent jackknifing.
When driving near motorcycles
Allow at least 1.5 meters lateral space to protect riders from turbulence.
If driving on mountainous roads
Use low gear uphill and downhill. This prevents loss of power or brake failure.
When entering highway traffic
Use acceleration lanes to merge safely. Do not force other drivers to brake suddenly.
If driving in congested traffic
Keep at least a 4-second gap to avoid collisions in sudden stops.
When overtaking bicycles or scooters
Leave 1.5 meters clearance. Truck wind can destabilize smaller vehicles.
